A SERIES of new excursions from Mold (Flintshire). sought by W. G. Richardson and Sons, Mold, was refused by the North Western Traffic Commissioners last week. They suggested that Richardsons could apply for picking-up points in Mold on their existing excursions, rather than ask for complete new

excursion facilities. = For Richardson's, Mr. G. Griffiths said they wanted to start the excursion's from Mold by-pass, where residents were in need of these facilities. Their present picking-up point was at Buckley, two miles away, and passengers had to get there by stage services operated by Crosville Motor Services. Ltd. They also had to return heirne by Crosville buses, and if they missed the list bus it meant paying for a taxi.

Mr. J. Edward Jones. for Crosville, claimed that the bus Sei'vices were good, so Richardson's passengers from Mold should -have no difficillty in reaching Buckley. -•

-Support for. the application Was given by Mrs. E Davies, chairman Of IVIold Council, who said Acre was an inadeciliate service to Rhyl. Crosville had only three direct services a week, and sonictines the timings. were inconvenient. To this,: Mr. Edward Jones pointed out that the economics of the case had to be taken . into Consideration.

NEW STATION FOR HOLIDAY TRAFFIC

ANEW bus station was opened at Leysr-1 down, on Monday, by Maidstone and 43istrict -Motor Services. Ltd. It will cater mainly for holiday coach traffic to and

from the eastern end of Sheppey, and more than 50.000 people using express coaches will be handled there every summer. .

The company constructed a large concrete-standing area in Leysdown last year and the new building adjoins it. Covered • waiting accommodation is provided for passengers, together with a booking and inquiry office and an inspector's office.

HAULIERS -MAKE DUTCH LINKS A PARTY of 26 members of York

• Sub-area of the Road Haulage Association returned to Hull, on Wednesday, after a visit to Holland. Led by Mr. J. Bailey, chairman, they were guests of the Netherlands Association of Transport Enterprises at a dinner in Rotterdam on Monday.

During the trip, the party discussed the European Free Trade Area, and established mutual contacts with a view to exchanging traffic between Hull and Rotterdam. ' A30
