This journal is extensively read by the heads of many wealthy commercial houses.

The latest news about the Parade will be found on pages 240-7.

Certain illustrations and notes concerning the latest developments at the Leyland works will be found on pages 234-5.

We understand that, by mutual consent of the parties, Captain R. K. Bagnall-Wild has terminated his agreement with Milnes-DaimlerMercedes, Ltd.

Our own correspondent in Calcutta sends • along one of his customary letters (page 245). Publication of this has been unavoidably held over for two weeks.

A fully-illustrated description of the latest 4-ton Armstrong-Whitworth chassis, which we first described in our issue for the 4th of April, is included on pp. 236-8.

The Bath and West.

Readers in the " West Country " and the Midlands are reminded that the Bath and West and Southern Counties Show is now taking place at Bath, and that it will remain open until the 27th inst. (in clusive). A Marshall 30-35 b.h.p. agrimotor, rated at 16 h.p. drawbar load, is amongst the most-interesting exhibits.

Whitsun Publishing.

Next week's issue of this journal will be published at 6 p.m. on Thursday, the 30th inst. This lateness of publication is necessitated through the Whitsuntide holidays, and pressure of work which follows them.

We are asked to announce that the advertisement columns of this journal will close for press tomorrow (Friday). Will advertisers please note?

Wants to Represent Someone.

We have a letter from a correspondent in an important town in Victoria (Australia), in which we are asked to put our friend in touch with an agency for a good cheap motor-haulage vehicle, of between one and two tons capacity. It would have to compete with the American types of cars, principally in Melbourne. Our correspondent states that he has an opportunity of placing a number of such machines with good business people. We shall be pleased to put any manufacturer who is interested in this pronosal in touch with the writer. Letters on the subject should be marked " Dowx

The Commercial Motor" is the authority on motor transport, the only journal officially recognized by the Commercial Motor Users Association, carrying a larger number of advertisement pages than any other similar journal and hating by far the largest genuine net sale weekly—i.e., the total number of copies boa gin' by subscribers and the interested public.

In new of the foregoing facts, claims of ea u«lit y or aim ha ri 1 y made elsewhere can be disregarded.

We are asked to point out that the tenders for bodies for motor ambulances for the County Borough of West Ham, which were invited by advertisement in our issue of last week, must be lodged by not later than 12 o'clock noon on the 7th j)rox.

Topical Subjects.

Our leading articles this week concern the following topical sub jects ; (1) " Next Monday's parade ; (2) " The Motor Museum ; " (3) " The uncommercial War Office ; " 0) " The attack by road authorities upon eight-ton axle-loads."

War-Office Specification.

With regard to our publication, a fortnight ago, of the full text of the War-Office 1912 subsidy scheme, we think it is desirable to state that we did not obtain the text of the scheme from any Government employee, either in H.M. Stationery Office or the War Office. We were enabled to give first publication of this document, solely through one of our usual news-collecting channels, and it was published in good faith as advance news of general interest to the industry and to owners.

We have to express regret to the Controller of H.M. Stationery Office for our having transgressed official regulations that were lad down by a notice which was published in " The London Gazette " of the 23rd November, 18-87. The Parade.

The official list of entries, after revision by the abstraction of retirements, is published elsewhere in this issue. We also reproduce a plan of the parade ground.

The attention of owners and drivers is particularly directed to the fact that the vehicles must approach from the Vauxhall Bridge end of Grosvenor Road, and not along Millbank Street, as was previously intimated. It is important that this change in the direction of approach should be observed, as any driver who tries to enter from Millbank Street will be stopped.

Upwards of 850 seats have been reserved at the afternoon performance of the London Palladium, for drivers and their friends, and the managers of that place of entertainment have arranged for special cinematograph films to be taken of the parade, and to be shown at the Palladium the same afternoon.

A Drivers Dinner.

The annual dinner of the Association of Amalgamated Motor Drivers was held at the " Apple Tree and Mitre," Cursitor Street, W.C., on Saturday night last, with Colonel R. E. Crompton, C.B., in the chair. A good dinner was served under the direction of the proprietor, Mr. E. Steward. At the conclusion of the dinner, an excellent vocal and musical entertainment was provided, and the evening was thoroughly enjoyable. The artistes were : Messrs. H. Salmon, J. Davies, A Fordham, J. Smith, and G. Strugnell.

Amongst those present, in addition to the chairman, were the following: Messrs. Stoneham and Jones (Yorke, Stoneham and Jones, Ltd.), the Editor of THE COMMERCIAL MOTOR, the Treasurer of the Association (Mr. Scott), Mr. Thomas, Mr. Dakin, Mr. Knight, and the Secretary (Mr. H. Vincent). Letters of apology for non-attendance were received from Mr. H. Lyon Thomson, Mr. Arthur Spurrier, and Mr. Lyell.

Colonel Crompton, in his remarks from the chair, expressed his conviction that the Association was doing much useful work. Be considered it deserved every support.

We may add that the address of the Hon. Secretary is 24, Gayton Road, Hampstead, N.W., and that the subscrintion rate is 3d. a week. A copy of the book of rules will be sent, free of charge, to any bonafide motor driver. The Association is not a trades union.
