Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A bus service which would be London's fastest has been proposed by London Transport to the GLC. The proposed service would be from Hackney to Marble Arch and LT claims that journey time would be reduced by one-third.

LT says the scheme would involve the extensive use of bus lanes "and other priorities to cover almost the whole route".

Daimler Fleetline Londoners would operate at three-minute intervals during peak periods, six-minute intervals during weekdays and between seven and 10-minute intervals on Sundays. There would be limited stops and it has been suggested that there would be a special squad of traffic wardens linked by radio to the bus controllers in order to keep bus lanes free.

A decision will not be made by the GLC until at least May 1 after the GLC elections.
