Brief Details of the Arrangements made for Catering for the Grand National Race Meeting.

MORE Liverpool motor coaches will be in service on Friday, -March 26th, than is likely on any other day this year, the occasion being the Grand National race _ meeting. For some weeks now owners have been putting the finishing touches to their plans and have been quietly booking parties desirous of seeing this classic event. Not only that, but the Liverpool Corporation, which, on such occasions,

hires out omnibuses to private parties, is also likely to have a few units of its fleet on the course. Motor coaches, motorbuses and conveyances of all descriptions are ushered into service on this great day. Quite the most interesting feature of the carriage enclosure at the racecourse, from the motor coach owners' point of view, is the diversity of methods employed for catering for the huge throng of racegoers. Some owners, who quote fares inclusive of the journey, admission to the racecourse, a four-course lunch and afternoon tea, arrange with a catering contractor to provide all the equipment, crockery, foodstuffs, etc., and staff required for administering to the needs of a party of, say, 100 or more coach passengers. Others carry out their own arrangements, having on,, the course portable boilers and all the accessories of a travelling restaurant. Others, again, on the morning of the event, make up hampers of sandwiches, etc., packed iu cartons, and at lunch time these are distributed amongst the passengers. The catering fare varies according to the inclusive price of the ticket, which may he 10s., 14s., one guinea or Ms. Whilst the minimum Liverpool fare for the journey and admission to the racecourse is 10s., Southport owners are running vehicles to the Aintree course at a charge of 15s. per bead.
