Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A Serviceable Machine Embodying a Continental Engine, Fuller Clutch and Gearbox, and Russell Rear Axle.

TIIEWOLVERINE CHASSIS is WOLVERINE. by the American Commercial. Car Co. at Detroit, which is the felons centre of motor manufacturing in America ; it is built up from units supplied by the foremost manufacturers of components in that country, and thus has the advantage of starting off with the experience gamed by these concerns ; in addition, it is provided with an electric starting and lighting systemi which is really effinient. The power plant consists of a Continental Red Seal engine with a bore and stroke of 3 ins. and 5 ins. respectively, three-point suspended in the 'channel section, pressed steel frame, thereby being isolated from any flexions which may occur in the datter. The four cylinders are cast en bloc with all the valves on the offside. The Eisernann magnetodynamo is also positioned at the offside, whilst the starting motor is at the other. A large radiator of the cast-iron header and bottom tank type ensures ample cooling; to cushion it from vibration it is spring mounted on the frame.

The drive is taken through a mtiltip!edisc clutch, Which runs dry, to the Fuller selective type three-speed and reverse gearbox. Both the clutch and the gearbox are built up as a unit with the engine, so that they are always in correct alignment. The gears are heavy, and have extra wide teeth.

A 2& in. universal jointed propeller shaft connects the gearbox and the Russell internal gear-drive rear axle. In the Russell axle a solid dead axis takes the load, while the bevel gear, differential and final drive shafts are contained in a separate cast steel housing ; the main gear reduction being at the wheels, the driving shafts are relieved of a large proportion of the stress, as is also the intermediate bevel gear.

Careful attention has been paid to the matter of springing, and the strings are rather larger than is usual with a chasds designed for the logds with which the Wolverine copes.

Wood artillery type wheels are provided as standard fitted with Goodyear single solids all round. Both foot and hand brakes operate on the rear wheel drams. The front axle is of Shules manufacture; it is of the standard drop forged type, provided with Timken taper roller bearings for the wheels.

The steering gear is of the worm and wheel type made by the Gemmer Co.

An interesting point in the design of the cardan shaft is that it is made in two sections, the front ,one being supported

In a bearing held by one of the frame cross-members. By this construction whipping, which might be caused by an excessively long shaft, is totally eliminated.

The sole .concessionnaires for this country are the H.C. Motor Co., Ltd., 88, Great Portland Street, London, W.1, who can give immediate delivery.
