• A Devon livestock haulier has been cleared of obstruction after parking his vehicle across a major trunk road while he discharged his cargo of 160 sheep.
Exeter magistrates held that Trant Haulage director Fred Trant from Oakhampton, was not guilty despite causing a temporary hold-up on the A30 near Cheriton Bishop.
Trant admits that other traffic was held up, but only for five minutes. He successfully proved that he used the safest and quickest way to deliver the animals.
