The Home Office's industrywide survey comes following an initiative agreed by the Joint Action Group on Organised Truck Theft chaired by the Metropolitan Police.

A first draft of a questionnaire has been prepared following a meeting earlier this month of the group, which represents the transport associations, insurers, manufacturers and others.
