NOTHER 2d, minimum will disappear IA from the fare structure on August 1, when increased charges become effective in respect of services operated by Ramsbottom UDC, Bury Corporation, Rawtenstall Corporation and Ribble Motor Services Ltd. between Bury-Rawtenstall, Bury-Edenfield, I3ury-Water and Ramsbottom-Shuttleworth. The first half-mile, which has cost 2d. since 1956, will now cost 3d. There is id. increase up to 21miles; 2d. increase up to 7+ miles and 3d. up to 9 miles, which will now cost is. 6d. In support of the application, which was unopposed, it was said that the fares scale was near the top of the low fares table. Mileage had been cut by 200,000 in 15 years and was now at the minimum practicable figure.
Mileage revisions, ranging from 0.9m. down to 0-8m. at the 3d. end of the scale and from 15-6m. down to 14m. for 2s. 5d., were approved for the Potteries Motor Traction Co. Ltd. and joint operator North Western Road Car Co. Ltd. from August 1. Greater distances will be charged at ld. for 0.Sm.
