T was announced this week that Mr. G. Maclean, director and general manager of Pickfords Ltd., will retire on December 31 and be succeeded by Mr. G. J. Skelton. Mr. Maclean joined Pickfords in 1926 and after several branch appointments became manager of the contracts department in 1933. After war service he held various removal and travel posts, becoming divisional manager in 1962 and subsequently general manager of Pickfords Ltd.

Mr. Skelton joined Pickfords in 1930 and obtained his first managerial post at Richmond in 1937, then moving to Swansea. Army service was followed by posts in the South West and in 1959 he became deputy chief removal and travel manager, succeeding Mr. Maclean as chief in 1962. He is senior vice-president of the NAFWR.

From January 1, next year, Mr. J. N. Tarsey—who joined the company in 1934— will move up from assistant chief removal and travel manager to chief.

Also retiring in December this year is Mr. J. N. Drummond, director and chief heavy haulage manager, who will be succeeded by his assistant, Mr. W. Partington.
