Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• VW has introduced the Caddy Pickup, based on the Skoda Felicia and powered by VW's indirect injection 1.9-litre diesel engine (CM 8-14 August 1996). The pickup body offers a 530kg payload and 2.02m2 load area, measuring 1.55m long with 1.02m between the wheel arches. The floor has four tie-down eyes.

The engine is shared with the VW Polo-derived Caddy van and will also be offered in the Felicia. The diesel Skoda should be available from March. Maximum power is 63hp (47kW) at 4,400rpm with 911bft (124Nm) of torque from 2,000-3,000rpm. VW has no plans to offer other engines, including the 1.9litre DI engine available in the Caddy van.

The engine is equipped with an oxidation catalyst. Oil changes are needed every 8,000km (5,000 miles) with a major service at 32,000km (20,000m).

Safety equipment includes side impact protection in the doors, adjustable headrests and seat belt tensioners. A Sony stereo radio/cassette and engine immobiliser are standard. Options include driver and passenger airbags, anti-lock brakes, air conditioning, a factoryfitted towbar, seat warmers and headlamp washers.

Two Truckman tops are also available. The C model has single-skin construction and is designed to carry 75kg evenly distributed on its roof. The double-skinned S model will carry 100kg and the interior is spray painted.

The Caddy is keenly priced at £6,995 (ex-VAT) and is available through VW dealers and Van Centres. A stock of basic models is available immediately, but buyers will have to wait for models with optional equipment. n The VW LT model range has been expanded to include a 141hp (105kW) Mercedes-Benz 2.3-litre petrol engine, VW 1.9-litre 75hp (55kW) direct injection diesel, tagged SDI and -a South American-sourced 2.8-litre 125hp (92kW) chargecooled DI diesel. All will be available in the first half of the year.

The Transporter range now includes a window van. The model offers a range of seating (including rear seats), bulkhead and window options or can be converted for PCV use. Fourcylinder diesel and petrol engines will be available.
