• A North Wales operator succeeded in getting his twovehicle licence renewed when he appeared before North Western Licensing Authority Martin Albu following an immediate prohibition for an air leak which affected the braking system. His other vehicle had been issued with a defect notice and no maintenance records were available.
Alexander Dutton of Kimmel Bay said the vehicle issued with the immediate prohibition had been damaged by salt water after it was used in the Towyn floods to rescue people and recover cars.
The prospect of a public inquiry had scared Dutton, but he now realised that better maintenance records must be kept.
