Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE COMMENT by David Wilcox (CMJanuary 6) that "trace bodies ... such as the Freight Transport Association should have a list of known or preferred consultants in their field" was something of an understatement. A full transpo and distribution consultancy service is offered by the FTA itself.

Depending on the nature of the assignment, work is carrie( out by FTA senior staff or one four outside consultants (including MM, the subject of f article) or a mixture of both.

In all cases the first step is ar in-depth discussion with senio FTA personnel (for which no charge is made) to assess the nature of the problem. We ther put forward a proposal making use of the most appropriate expertise for the job concernec Where the outside consultan are brought in, the fee charged to our member will be less thar if he had gone to the consultan concerned direct.

It is worth remembering that consultancy is not just about th big issues. One or two days' outside help is often all that is needed to assist many operato to solve their problems. This type of operation is an FTA speciality.
