THE Chancellor of the Exchequer has been asked by the Municipal Passenger Transport Association, the Passenger Vehicle Operators' Association, the Public Transport Association and the Scottish Road Passenger Transport Association to receive a deputation to discuss a scheme whereby the bus industry would benefit by a rebate on oil fuel, but early this week he had not replied.
The organizations contend that this could easily be done and would offer an almost complete solution of the problem of increased fares.
