MR. H. A. DAVIS, chief buyer of Brown Brothers, Ltd., has completed 50 years' service with the company.

Mr. Claridge served his appenticeship with A.E.C.. Ltd., and became assistant sales engineer of A.C.V. (Sales). Ltd., in 1948. He took up a similar appointment with Commer in 1951.

MR. F. BRIGGS has been appointed assistant London regional manager of Pirelli, Ltd. MR. W. M. HoGG has become NeWcastle district manager. MR. E. W. YATES, MR. F. R.. EWART, MR. G. F. BYRNE and MR. T. SMEATON DICK have taken over the district managerships in Nottingham, Leeds, Southampton and Cardiff respectively. MR. K. R. F. McMATH has been appointed Glasgow regional representative.

MR. F. T. BALL, controller of transport, Ministry of Works, who was awarded the O.B.E. in the recent Honours List, has spent many years in road transport. Before taking up his present position he was for 39 years in the service of the Post Office, in which he held the posts of area motor transport officer in West Scotland, Northern Ireland and Nottingham, and regional motor transport officer in Birminghain.

TORY M.P.S WANT LONDON TRANSPORT INQUIRY

I-1 A MOTION calling for an inquiry

into the operation and administration of London Transport has been tabled by Conservative Members of Parliament representing Metropolitan constituencies. It reads: That in view of repeated increases in fares and the threatened addition to the affeady heavy burden borne by all the travelling public throughout Greater London, this House calls for a searching and impartial inquiry into the whole administration and operation of the London transport system."

One of the signatories to the motion, Mr. E. Partridge, has written to the Transport Tribunal asking for a longer period to be allowed for the lodging of objections to the British Transport Commission's application to increase fares in the capital.
