A LICENCE application by a South-Coast operator has been rejected on the grounds that it was a ploy to enable the applicant's disqualified father to continue trading.
The application by Littlehampton, West Sussexbased William Jenkins was refused by South-Eastern & Metropolitan Traffic Commissioner Christopher Heaps. He considered it to he a front for Jenkins' father Kevin. who was disqualified from holding an 0-licence at the time.
The licence held by Kevin and Deborah Jenkins. trading as Arun All Clear, was revoked in June when they were disqualified from holding an 0-li for six months.William Jenkins submitted an ar lion for a three-vehicle licence in September 20( William Jenkins said he had taken control c Austin Plant Hire and the firm had been losing n because it had to subcontract its transport.
In reply to the TC,William Jenkins initially sa firm had not begun trading hut later said it had b business for about a year. Asked why bank state' produced were in the name of Kevin Jenkins, tr as Tim Austin. William Jenkins eventually adr his father was running Tim Austin Plant Hit assured the TC that no vehicles had been opt since one had been impounded last July.
The TC said William Jenkins had made statei that he knew to be false. He had not been inv in the running of Tim Austin Plant Hire. althou claimed to have been running that business. Ti was satisfied that the application had been subr by William Jenkins as a "front" for his father.
