Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The motorway will suffer further disruption as it shuts for pothole

repairs. David Harris reports.

OPERATORS USING the M6 face another summer of delays and diversions as the Highway Agency closes two sections for pot hole repairs.

Work will begin in July on two sections of the motorway at Junctions 6 and 8: it is due to continue for five months. The affected sections will be a 4km stretch southbound on the Bromford Viaduct and a 900m part of the northbound Ray Hall Viaduct.

Operators are reacting phlegmatically to the news. Les Bassett. joint MD of Stoke-based RG Bassett, says:"Those junctions arc among the busiest so its obviously going to cause some difficulty to us, especially as our vehicles use that stretch around 40 or 50 times a day. But then if it's got to be repaired it's got to be repaired. so we have to accept that."

This will be the second summer in a row that major repair works have blighted the motorway. Last year, resurfacing caused delays on two viaduct stretches and the Aston Expressway into Birmingham.

A Highways Agency spokeswoman assures: "The Aston Expressway will not he affected this time and we expect the disruption to be much less than some people are predicting."
