• Four road improvement schemes have been added by the Department of Transport this week to the list of road building projects it wants privately financed and built. They are in addition to the seven road building contracts the Department awarded to private construction consortia before Christmas.
• The four projects to be built with private finance are the widening of the M40 between .11-15, A19/A168 Tyneside to Al junction including a widening to three lanes of the Norton to Parkway section), the replacement of the A30 between Exeter and Honiton and the A564 Doveridge bypass in the
Derby/Stoke corridor.
