Keywords : Grewal

WOLVERHAMPTON market trader, J. S. Grewal, has had his three-vehicle licence suspended by the South Wales Licensing Authority Ronald Jackson, deputising in Birmingham, until Mr Grewal can find a suitable alternative operating centre.

On Mr Grewal's behalf, R. Abbott said the Local Authority had objected to the use of his present premises, so Mr Grewal was seeking alternative premises and had two possible sites in mind.

He had been proescuted on January 7 for failing to comply with the Planning Enforcement Notice, but at the hearing the Council gave Mr Grewal three months to find alternative accommodation.

Mr Abbott asked the LA to reinstate the licence on a temporary basis in line with the action taken by the Council.

Asked why he had not complied with the request to return vehicle discs in the letter notifying him of the licence suspension, Mr Grewal said he had taken advice and had brought the discs with him to Court.
