MR. FRANK AUBREY POPE', C.I.E., 1YLIsis-r.T., chairman of the Ulster Transport Authority, is to become a full-time member of the British Transport Commission. He fills the vacancy caused by the death of LORD ASHPIELD. A30 MR, GEORGE BAKER, MR. PAUL STANLEY and MR. GEORGE ROYSTON haste been appointed joint assistant managing directors of Stewart and A rde rn, Ltd.
MR. A. KEARTI.AND is retiring from the position of Midland Counties representative of Servis Recoraers, Ltd., which he has held for over 21 years. He is succeeded by his son, MR. P. KEARTLAND, who has been his assistant for two years.
MR H C. SIMMONDS has become general manager of Portsmouth Transport Department, in succession to MR. BEN Hari, who retired at the end of January after 25 years with the department. Mr. Simmonds, formerly deputy general manager. came to Portsmouth in 1942 from Cleethorpes Corporation, where he had been works superinten dent. He had previously been with Southend Corporation. His successor as deputy general manager is MR. A. W. FIELDER, who joined the undertaking as a conductor in 1925:passing through the stages of driver, inspector, chief schedules clerk and traffic superintendent before his promotion to his present post.
