Northern Scotland.

DETAILS of the applications that are being taken by the Northern Scotland Commissioners at the Aberdeen sitting opening on March 8th, will be published in gazette 37, with which we hope to deal in our issue for next week.

Northern.

AT the end of this week a sitting will

be opened at Kendal to deal mainly with excursions and tours, a few of the Kendal operators having modified their applications. Both private and associated Companies are concerned, including Ribble Motor Services, Ltd., and, generally speaking, the applications are not a a controversial nature.

Yorkshire.

FULL details of arrangements for the

sitting at Leeds next week are given in the latest gazette. Mainly excursions and tours will be dealt with, there being a great deal of railway opposition to private operators. The West Yorkshire Road Car Co., Ltd., will meet strong objections to its applications to continue excursions from various Yorkshire centres, and the same applies to Mr. S. Ledgard.

West Midland.

A LIST of applications to be heard at

Stafford to-morrow is given in gazettes 46 and 47. Burton Corporation will occupy some of the time and will be followed by it number of independent operators whose excursion applications are, in many cases, strongly resisted. The sitting is to be continued at Hanley on Thursday, when further excursion applications will be heard.

At Hanley next week a large number of excursion cases will be heard, whilst at Walsall, on March 3rd, stage services of Walsall Corporation and a few other operators will be dealt with, similar arrangements having been made for the following day at Wolverhampton.

North Western.

VJWHILST gazette 39 gives no informa tion concerning forthcoming sittings, operators would be well advised to obtain a copy, because it contains a supplement giving not only standard conditions for the road service licences and backings, but details of Orders made prohibiting or restricting the use of roads. Certain roads in Salford, Accrington, Thornton Cleveleys, Great Crosby, Bootle, Northwich, Bredbury and Romiley, Altrincharn, Chester, Montgomery, Merioneth and St. Asaph are affected. Route directions for Blackpool, Bolton, Burnley, Chester; Holyhead, Lancaster, Liverpool and a slumber of other towns in the area are given.

The supplement contains also, in part VII, forms for reporting accidents, names and addresses of certifying officers and public service vehicle examiners, a complete alphabetical list of the names and addresses of applicants for 1931 licences under Part IV of the Road Traffic Act, etc.

East Midland.

LISTS are now, published of applica tions to be heard at Peterborough next Monday and at Nottingham on the .following two days. All classes of service are being dealt with stage services and excursions of the Eastern Counties Omnibus Co., Ltd., constituting the most prominent batch of the Peter

' borough cases. The company's Norwith-Birmingham express service is opposed by the Easy Motor Coach Co. So far, little opposition is recorded against the. Nottingham applications, amongst which are included excuraion backings. by Venture Transport (Hendon), Ltd. ; Birth Brothers, Ltd., London ; G.B. (Motor Tours), Ltd.,

• London, and equally well known concerns. On March 2nd stage services of the Mansfield and District undertaking will occupy the Commissioners.

Eastern.

A SITTING has been arranged to open at Cambridge on Tuesday next, when some difficult cases will come up for consideration. On Wednesday a variety of applications between the Eastern Counties concern will be taken, and one, for excursions from Yarmouth, will be opposed by the Great Yarmouth Motor Hirers and Coach Services Association, and over a dozen private operators and other persons. Services connecting London with Southend and Laindon, applied for by Southend Express Carriers, Ltd., are to be cellsidered on Thursday, March 3rd, there being, of course, strong opposition.

South Wales..

FURTHER evidence of the compara tively well organized state of the public service vehicle business in 'South Wales is afforded by gazette 33 for this area. To-morrow's Cardiff sitting will be devoted to backings for groups of excursions and tours, and next Tuesday's Swansea sitting will be occupied by stage service applications of independent operators, each with modifications.

Western.

IT should be noted that the March 7th sitting at Reading will be held in the Shire Hall and not in the Small Town Hall. A sitting is being held at Reading this week and this, together with that fixed for March 7th, has been arranged for dealing with seasonal ser vices, excursions and tours. • South Eastern.
