M.H.C.S.A. Continues Useful Work.

LAST Wednesday evening the management committee of the Motor Hirers and Coach Services Association, Ltd., 12, Spring Street, London, W.2, appeared before the Conservative Party Transport Committee at the House of Commons to submit definite proposals for amendments to the Road Traffic Act, 1930. The suggested amendments are not of a far-reaching nature and it was pointed out that the question is one more of administration and interpretation than of the actual wording of the Act.

Premier Appeal Succeeds.

THE appeal of Premier Line, Ltd., against the decision of the Southern Commissioners refusing to license its Windsor-Maidenhead stage service has been decided by the Minister of Trans'port in favour of the appellant. The through service from Windsor is not permitted.

London-coastal Fares for 1932 Season.

WITH regard to the paragraph ap

pearing in last week's issue on the subject of fares schedules for the Southern Area, and the delay in dealing with this matter in the Metropolitan and South-Eastern Areas, it should be noted that the Motor Hirers and Coach Services Association, Ltd., bas written to the 'Metropolitan Commissioner suggesting that, until the regional fares committees appointed by him in conjunc

tion with the' South-Eastern Commissioners shall have submitted their reports, the 1931. fares schedule, affecting particularly 'coach services between London and coastal towns, should be instituted for the season now opening. ' The association . suggests that the fares in this schedule should apply for services originating within a radius of five miles from Charing Cross, London. With regard to services originating outside that area, it is thought best that' the Commissioner should decide whether operators' fares are reasonable and in keeping with the schedule.

The Minister and the Act.

THE Minister of Transport last week

made the following statement:—"I have recently, discussed with the principal organizations representing -passenger transport by road the operation of certain sections of the Road Traffic Act. It has not appeared that amending legislation is necessary, but I have issued certain directions, and, in co-operation with the Traffic Commissinners, have made arrangements which will, I think, do much to promote the smooth working of the Act in the second year of its operation."

Terminal Facilities at Norwich, AT Norwich Thorpe Station (L.N.E.R.) there already is a bus station for coordinated services.
