MAN Truck & Bus UK is looking to Rael Winetroube to galvanise its TopUsed arm and focus on securing and retailing more desirable and dependable stock

Words: Kevin Swallow

The remit for MAN's newly appointed TopUsed sales director Rae! Winetroube is to take the UK arm of the manufacturer's used vehicle department forward. There is massive potential, he says, and the key to its future is control.

Like all manufacturers, MAN wants to expand its vehicle pare and market share, he says, and the used business can be highly instrumental in achieving that. "TopUsed has a direct impact on used vehicle values that translate to whole life costs, and MAN's proposition (to operators) is based on whole life cost.

-By managing our own remarketing operation (MAN employs a new and used truck sales team), it gives us the opportunity to properly manage used vehicles into the market," he says.

Winetroube says the fundamentals of the department will remain the same. "We want to develop our retail proposition, so sites like this (Trafford Park, Manchester), where TopUsed has a good aftersales operation, have the space, the right sort of image and visibility. The idea is to have premium used truck locations (19 in the UK) and premium stock. MAN has good people and a good network, it has its own in-house finance company that is getting good levels of penetration, a lot of retail used sales are sold with a repair and maintenance contract. It's galvanising the component parts into action," he says.
