Organic growth at Protruck Auc-ions has led to a new face

behind the podium, Kevin Swalllow reports — and it seems the summer slowdown is already over.

With its first birthday on the horizon, organic growth at Protruck Auctions has allowed Charlie Wright to expand his auctioneering team to cope with the extra business.

The new face wielding the hammer on the 15-acre Sandtoft site is Ian Short, who arrives with 18 years' experience at Manheim Auctions and Premier Motor Auctions in Leeds. His background is cars and light CVs, and he brings good contacts with finance and leasing companies.

"We are up to 400 bits at the moment." says Wright. "We're getting too busy and we need another pair of hands to help with the auctioneer ing, the day-to-day running of the business and its development.'

Short made Ifis debut at the heavy truck auction last Tuesday (21 August).

Getting busier

The sale at the end of July was a bit quiet,Wright reports—it turned overfi 3m, which is down 30% on an average sale — and he feared the summer slowdown would continue through August. so the next auction came as a pleasant surprise.

"We. turned over L-1.6m at the sale on 7 August which I was happy with because it is the holiday season. It was a combination of people returning from holiday, and good stock," he says. •
