• The Department of Transport has finally bowed to pressure and will be widening the north west Surrey section of the M25 between junction 11 and junction 13 into four lanes each way.
The naive has been welcomed by the British Road Federation which says that Surrey Police estimate that up to 120,000 vehicles are using the section each day.
Work on widening the motorway Is expected to begin next summer with completion scheduled for the end of 1988. Cost for widening the 8.5km (5.3 mile) section is around 120.3
