Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Your leader on environmental issues (CM, w/e August 16) fails to mention that the number of objectors to operating centres wouldn't need to be cut down artificially if the operator himself did some proper spadework.

Instead of sitting around waiting for the objectors to appear, and then moaning about them, why don't these operators go out and talk to the local residents, and discuss potential problems before they get caught up in legal confrontations? I've read in your journal that people like TNT do this — surely you don't have to be one of the big boys to do it.
