• Humberside-based Peter Sheffield Luxury Coaches has become the 400th PSV operator to be registered under the recently-relaunched Bus and Coach Council code of conduct on driving standards and the restraint of coach speeds.

The ten-point code is intended to improve the image of the coach industry after the recent spate of accidents. It requires an operator to adhere strictly to national and local speed limits; regularly scrutinise its driver's tachograph charts for possible speeding offences, and discipline where necessary and also to avoid unrealistic scheduling which could lead to speeding.

In return, PSV operators registered under the scheme are entitled to use marketing material produced on the code by the BCC.

According to BCC public affairs director Barry Hoye the council has now met its target of 400 registrations within three months.
