THREE MEN who will take part in the final of the Lorry Driver of the Year Competition at Cranfield on September 7 will, says a blurb that has alighted on my desk, "uphold the name and reputation of John Smith,' It does not tell me what the holder of that unique moniker has a reputation for doing, so I do not know what to expect. For further information I am asked to "contact the public relations department". This would be a splendid idea if I was told the department's address or even its telephone number, but John Smith is playing hard to get. So am I.
