AN addition to the Dempster range of body units offered by Powell Duffryn Engineering Co. Ltd. of Cardiff is the Dempster Dumpmaster DB.38 "open top bulker, This unit has been specially developed for use by local authorities who operate refuse-transfer depots, since the vehicle can be reversed into loading bays for the waste to be loaded from above.
Full cross-section ram plates mounted at the front end of the body enable refuse to be compacted against the rear doors by a 25-ton pressure ram. Discharge is by opening the rear doors and ramming through.
