Leyland Trucks wins award

DESPITE THE current slump in British vehicle manufacturing, Leyland Trucks has won a Queen's Award for International Trade.

The award, which is made by the Queen

on a recommendation from the Prime Minister, marks the firm's 'exceptional performance in supplying trucks built at its Farington, Lancashire plant into markets around the world.

Leyland says that almost 40% of the output from the plant is now despatched to 44 overseas markets, including all Western European countries, as well as a growing number in Eastern Europe,

Its trucks can also be found in more distant locations such as South Africa, Australia and (pictured left) Mexico.
