WHILE ALL THE pundits seem to agree that we will remain in recession for the remainder of 2009, and unemployment will lag behind other indicators, the news isn't all bad...
• The US housing market was up 5% in February.
• The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors said UK house-buyer enquiries rose at their fastest rate since 2006 in February, spurred by low interest rates.
• The British Bankers Association said mortgage approvals in high-street banks went up for the third month running.
• The FTSE 100 continued to climb through March to 3,955.61.
• Despite a snowy February, retail figures suggest consumer demand is stabilising.
