Norbert Dentressangle driver who was found slumped over the wheel of his stationary artic on the hard shoulder of the M6 has been disqualified from driving for 12 months in the UK.

Appearing before Cannock magistrates, Michel Huet, from Argentre, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a breath specimen. was required of him, but he refused to give the specimen.

For Huet, Mervyn Walker said he worked out of a depot at Brest and rarely visited the UK. Huet had crossed the Channel by ferry that night where he had a meal and two glasses of wine.

He claimed he had stopped to consult his map: Huet had not realised that he was not allowed to stop on the hard shoulder for that purpose.

Huet was fined £130 with £85 costs.
