Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Craik • Trans-Action, the group of hauliers protesting against the recent fuel increases, is planning to get organised and coordinate a huge day of action in May after a series of sporadic protests last Friday.

British hauliers' hopes that the country would come to a standstill largely failed but Trans-Action says it is now putting in place the organisation a widespread day of action requires.

Last Friday's protests included: • Chris Cain of TR Group Holdings in Merseyside and a dozen other hauliers on a go-slow on the M6 in "loop-the-loop formation" causing disruption to traffic and tailbacks.

• In Northants, two-mile tailbacks on the M1 were caused by a go-slow of 10 local trucks early in the morning. Protesting trucks took up the inside and middle lanes travelling in a loop-the-loop formation. Under police advice the protest ended at 1 0:30hrs.

Earlier in the week hauliers and policemen deluged CM with calls wanting to find out what was happening. Gary Donaldson, managing director of Finedon Bulk Haulage in Northants, whose two sons were involved in the protest, says Friday's action on the M1 was a partial success because 20 trucks took part. He says 40 trucks will do the same again on the M1 on Friday now wants to take 24 April. Cain
