Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TOYOTA has restyled its Hi-Ace van range and improved its performance by fitting a more powerful petrol engine with a diesel engine available as an option.

Petrol-engined models now have the 2Y 1,812cc ohv power unit that gives 58kW (78bhp) at 4,800rpm with a 8.8:1 compression ratio that allows it to run on two-star petrol. 144Nm (106 Ibft) of torque is available at 2,60Orpm.

Its diesel engine option is the 2,188cc ohc L engine available with the panel van and pick-up, rated at 4 9 kW (6 6bhp) at 4,200rpm and its 130Nm (961 lbft) of torque peaks at 2,60Orpm.

Gearbox ratios are 4.452, 2.398, 1.414, 1.00 for the petrol models, and the diesel option has a fifth gear included with 0.802 ratio. Reverse gear for all models is 4.452:1.

The braking system includes 254mm (10in) dia ventilated discs at the front, and rear brakes are the self-adjusting drum type of 254mm (10in) diameter. These are operated by diagonally split dual circuits and a 227mm (9in) vaccuum servo.

All steering angles and front suspension bushes have been modified.

Payloads are increased over the previous specifications to 1,245kg (2,739 lb) with the petrol model and 1,150kg (2,530 lb) for the diesel, while access into the load area is also improved with a 76mm (3in) wider and 51mm (2in) deeper side-sliding door.

The wheelbase is increased to 2.495m (98.2in) and its overall length is extended to 4.725 (15ft 6i n).

Improvements in driver comfort include seats with extra lumbar and thigh support. A third seat has been added over the engine cover with its own seat belt and extra clearance at the front is achieved by reducing the angle of the steering column.

Its windscreen area has been increased by 24 per cent and the external front-end styling changes together with suspension improvements are said to improve stability and manoeuverability.

The petrol engine Hi-Ace panel van costs £5,694 with an extra £634 for the diesel option, while the pick up version is £5,189 and an extra £973 for the diesel engine. All prices include vat.
