THE SERVICES of the Lucas Materials Evaluation Group are r available to interested organisations outside Lucas Industries.
The 18-strong group comprising physicists, chemists, engineers and metallurgists is housed within the 7,900 sqm (85,000soft) Lucas Research Centre established in 1965 at Solihull.
Lucas says that the services on offer include testing to inte tionally recognised standard customers' specifications analysis of competitc materials and processes fr their product.

Lucas claims that the gr has achieved a reputation effective problem solving aci a wide spectrum citing anti, zure treatment of brake p and analysis of gear to fatigue as typical examples.
The MEG facilities include chromatography, fract toughness studies, fatil testing, in-situ hardness tes and torsion testing.
The technical manage MEG states that product hat legislation and the need to duce costs by designing as c to failure limits as safety allow are creating a strong r ket.
