Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The accompanying illustration shows a pair of " Samsonian " patent wheels, which are made by The Atlas Engineer

ing Company, of the Atlas Tool Works, Levenshulme, Manchester. These wheels have been specially designed for use on very sandy roads, and the bodies are made of cast steel, with tubular spokes. The bodies are " staked on " to the company's standard pattern of hub, and the latter are provided with adjustable flanges, by the aid of which the hard-wood cones may be tightened up between the hubs and the bodies of the wheels. The Wheels are shod with three-inch, Shrewsbury and Challiner, solid-rubber tires, which are secured by means of split rings. One of these rings is shown separated from its wheel, in the illustration. The wheels are fitted with steel discs, on each side, to prevent sand or grit from lodging in the spokes. The diameter of the wheels is 40 inches, and, when fitted with a three-inch solid tire, the weight of each complete wheel is two cwt. A' set of these wheels has recently been supplied to Argyll Motors, Limited, for a vehicle which is being shipped for use in the Syrian Desert. The London representative of the company is Mr. H. H. Carter, A.M.I.Mech.E. (late of the Vanguard Motorbus Company) of III, Piccadilly, W.
