The company says it has been looking for years for a manager with the kind of professional pedigree like that of Mr Birch.
Mr Birch moved to Cossington Commercials from Central Motors, main Ford distributors, where he was managing director. Before this he was on the main board of Thos. W. Ward Motors, where he was responsible for managing various companies within the group.
His first posting in the industry was with Regent Axles Company of Burnley as general sales manager.
