Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

OWNER-DRIVER Roy Graham was overall champion of the Scottish Trucker Club's first driving competition held at Stirling last weekend.

Mr Graham, who operates a Volvo F12 from his base at Drymen in Stirlingshire, also came top in the Class 1 section for artics, with only 105 penalty points. Peter Adams was runnerup.

The contest was modelled on the successful formula of the CM Lorry Driver of the Year competition with driving tests and a written paper based on the Highway Code. Awards were presented last Sunday by CM news editor Alan Millar.

In spite of driving rain, 32 of the club's 340 members took part in the contest at Stirling's Caledonian Cattle Mart, using a Volvo F12 six-axle attic combination, a Mercedes-Benz threeaxle rigid and a four-wheel ERF rigid, provided by dealers.

Class 2 winner was James Paton, B. Bannister being Class 3 winner.

A repeat contest, being planned for next year, will be the fourth in the club's existence and there are plans for a road route then.

The club started as a group for Citizens' Band radio enthusiasts, but has developed far beyond that to provide social facilities and information for heavy goods vehicle drivers throughout Scotland.

The club also welcomes members from other parts of Britain provided that they hold a current hgv licence.

It has arranged discussions with Scottish police forces and claims to have highlighted the driver's case in the course of this.

Meetings are held in Stirling every three weeks, with members attending from all parts of Scotland. Details are available from the secretary, David McNee, 8 Fisher Place, Buchlyvie, Stirlingshire.
