THE Glasgow City transport commit". tee last week decided that anyone under the influence of drink will be banned from the city's buses. The move aims to beat thugs and protect bus crews. Extra police, in plain clothes and uniform. will mingle with the crowds at "rough spots" throughout the city in case of trouble.
Glasgow may also adopt an insurance policy for bus workers to provide dependants with £2,500 in the event of death by assault—in addition to legal compensation.
After a meeting between officials of the TGWU, the transport manager and chief constable, there were hopes that the week-end 8 p.m. curfew by 500 city bus crews, imposed during the last few week-ends, would end.
