Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

rAA HYDRAULIC loader which can be mounted behind the cab of most, makes of commercial vehicle has been introduced by Stanhay (Ashford), Ltd., Elwick Works, Ashford, Kent. Loads' of up to '10 cwt. can be lifted, but the average load, when used as a grab, is 5 cwt.

The loader is operated by a gear-type pump, the developed pressure being 1,000 psi. The grab is closed hydraulically by a ram giving a pull of 31 tons. This means that there can be no spillage and the maximum load is transferred each time.

A complete cycle of operations— grab, lift, slew, discharge and return— takes approximately 25-30 seconds, giving a loading rate of a ton every two minutes. When used as a hoist, the time taken to lift, slew and lower is about 10 seconds, to which must be added the slinging time.

The job is slewed manually and will operate through a full halfcircle clear of the side of the vehicle and completely over it. This is equivalent to an arc of 270°.

The price of the hoist is £133, and complete with grab, £175.
