Overloading could have caused a 'major accident', magistrates told

A I IAU LI ER IS facing disqualification from driving after overloading a truck so much it was said tube on the verge of toppling over on the motorway.
The 7.5-tonne vehicle was driven by Dean Boswell, who runs Boswell Transport, of Hollywood, Birmingham; it was overloaded with earth and stones by 4,330kg. Solihull magistrates were told.
Dominic Green,prosecuting for Vosa, said the truck was stopped at Junction 3 of the M5 after it was seen to be on the verge of toppling over because of its excessive load. "The 77% overloading was causing the tyres to overheat, and the heavy load could have affected braking, steering and the springs," Green told the court.
-The vehicle was veering over to one side and there could have been a major accident."
Boswell pleaded guilty by post to a charge of driving a vehicle Ma dangerous condition.
Green said the truck was carrying its load to a landfill site in Worcestershire. A prohibition order was put on the vehicle.
Magistrate Nigel Thomas said the court was considering revoking Boswell's vocational licence because of the seriousness of the offence and ordered him to attend court at a later date to be told of the decision.
