Renault has announced a new range-topping version of its Mascott. The 150.55 and 150,65 models, with 5.5 and 6.5-tonne GVWs respectively, will be powered by a new 2.8litre, 145hp common-rail engine from the beginning of 2002.

The new unit is mated to a six-speed transmission and will replace the existing 140hp rating, while the 110.50 and 110.60 models retain their 105hp, five-speed driveline. The 150.65 is available in four wheelbase versions, ranging from 3.13 to 4.63m, while the 50.55 comes with just the two middle lengths, 3.63 and 4.13m. Underneath, all Mascott models now feature a new singleleaf suspension front and rear.

Along with the engine and susGo, pension changes, the whole range

will benefit from a package of improvements. These include a new dashboard layout, with a DIN interim tachograph and an RDS radio. New seats and improved interior trim are fitted, and an immobiliser is now standard. ABS has been fitted as standard

to all Renault Mascotts since September, ahead of the January 2002 date for its compulsory fitting to CVs over 3.500kg GVW.

• Following regional trials, Renault Trucks' Menu Pricing scheme is now available

throughout its IR dealer network. Operators can now obtain a fixed price in advance for routine inspections and servicing, as well as for supply and fitting of many replacement core components.
