Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Northern Counties of Wigan is developing a new bus body for four manufacturers' chassis, which it hopes to have ready for the Bus and Coach Council show next October.

The body will suit an Nem, a Scania, a Dennis Lance or Dart, or a Volvo BlOM. Managing director Neil Scales says the emphasis will be on "having a front-end more exciting than usual", and on accessibility.

Northern Counties specialises in double-deckers, but it has just finished an order of eight single-deck "accessible vehicles" for GM Buses in Manchester.

The buses have been subsidised by a disabled passengers group.

Scales says the company will be able to fit a variety of seating arrangements on the new single-deckers.

Northern Counties makes about 200 double-deckers a year: buyers include Ensign Bus and RTS in London, Maidstone Boroline, GM Buses and Busways in Newcastle.
