Mrs. Margaret Thatcher, the new "shadow" Transport Minister, automatically assumes the chairmanship of the Conservative transport committee. At the annual election of officers of the committee last week, Mr. Michael Heseltine, 35, MP for Tavistock, who is a magazine publisher, was appointed a joint vice-chairman. He succeeds Mr, Tam Galbraith, MP for Glasgow, Hillhead, who was Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Transport. 1963-64.
The remaining officers were re-elected: Mr. David Webster (Weston-super-Mare), joint vice-chairman; and Mr. Daniel Awdry (Chippenham), and Mr. Edward Taylor (Glasgow, Cathcart(, joint secretaries.
