• On November 24 Normandy ferries starts a roll-on ferry service between Southampton and Lisbon, running initially at 11-day intervals. Journey time is two days. Limited terminal capacity at Lisbon restricts commercial traffic to driver-accompanied vehicles not exceeding 15 tons gross and 22ft wheel base. Single all-in fare for drivers is £8; typical freight rate is £4 per linearfoot outwards, £2 per foot for units returning empty.
