Ltd.) has been appointed hon. treasurer and Col. Sir Ralf Emerson (chairman, Metropolitan-Cammell-Weymann Ltd.) hon. librarian.

Mr. H. Weedy, who has been general manager of the South Wales Transport Company Ltd. for the past nine years, will be retiring, at his own request. on September 30. Mr. Weedy enterd the bus industry 40 years ago when he joined the engineering department of the East Kent Road Car Co. Ltd. From 1930 to 1947 he held various appointments with United Automobile Services Ltd. and The Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co. Ltd., and in the latter year became chief engineer of The City of Oxford Motor Services Ltd. In 1948 he was appointed general manager of that company. In 1953 Mr. Weedy became the first general manager of the newly formed Jamaica Omnibus Services Ltd. and was responsible for the initial development of that undertaking. In July, 1955, Mr. Weedy returned to take up his present appointment with the South Wales Company. Mr. W. Swallow, chairman and managing director of Vauxhall Motors Ltd., has been elected president of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. Mr. L. G. T. Farmer, chairman of the Rover Company, president for the past two years, becomes deputy president. Mr. J. J. Parkes, chairman and managing director of Alvis Ltd., continues in office for a second term as a vice-president, and Mr. I. D. Richards, chairman of the Zenith Carburetter Company, becomes a vice-president in succession to Mr.

He las, accordingly, relinquished his posiions as managing director of Pilot and is a director , of Edbro. Aged 49, Mr. Edwards has been connected with tipping ;ears all his life. He is a son of the ate Mr. Miles Edwards who, together with his seven brothers, pioneered the ievelopment of hydraulic tipping gears in Britain. Mr. Edwards' retirement comes ust a little more than two years after Pilot was sold to Edbro.
