Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

is now delivering to the War Department a fleet of 32 Marshal six-wheeled chassis of the type illustrated on this page. These are for general army duties and follow the experience gained with a model specifically designed some three years ago.

The power unit is an A.E.C. fourcylindered petrol engine of 112-mm. bore and 130-mm. stroke. Its Treasury rating is 31.10 h.p. and it develops 80 b.h.p. at 2,400 r.p.m. Other engine features include overhead valves, a five-bearing balanced crankshaft, and forced lubrication to all main and bigend bearings.

The Marshal chassis employs a fourspeed gearbox, incorporating a constant-mesh third-speed gear, an auxiliary gearbox is also provided. The road speeds attainable at 2,400 r.p.m., with a 74-to-1 axle ratio, are as ]W-First, 7 to 1, 5.5 m.p.h.; second,

4.3 ta 1, 8.95 m.p.h.; third, 2.5 to 1, 15.4 m.p.h.; fourth, 1.6 to 1, 24 m.p.h.; fifth, direct, 38.5 m.p.h.; reverse, 8.5 to 1, 4.5 m.p.h.

A heavy-section alloy-steel stamping is used for the front axle and both rear axles take the drive, each of them having a differential, but, in this instance, no third differential is employed. The

rear axles are of the semi-floating type and are worm driven.

The tyre equipment consists of 9 x 22 Dunlop Trakgrip on all wheels. The chassis has a wheelbase of 12 ft. Eii an ovetall length of 20 ft. 14 ins., and an overall width of 7 ft. 6 ins.
