Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Can road haulage ever expect to get a fair deal from the government? As the foot and mouth crisis gets worse and worse we're hearing lots of stories about compensation for the poor old farmers, but not a word about livestock and other hauliers whose trucks are standing idle as the bills mount up.

First they close local abattoirs and use hauliers to run livestock the length of the country, then they blame hauliers for helping spread the disease.

As if we didn't have enough on our plates with diesel price rises and so on! This will doubtless drive more of us out of business. No wonder we can't attract drivers into this nonstop battle for survival. They'd be better off joining the chocolate teapot industry.

J Osborne, Ferring, W Sussex.
