£250,000 DAIMLER BUS ORDERS: Orders for Daimler bus chassis during the first six weeks of 1963 totalled £250,000 in value. Prominent among these is an initial order from Maidstone and District Motor Services Ltd. for 35 Fleetline rear-engined doubledecker chassis. Potteries Motor Traction Co. Ltd. has placed a repeat order for 25 of the same model, whilst Rochdale Corporation joins the list of municipal Fleetline users with an order for five chassis. Two Fleetline chassis have been ordered by Shell-Mex and B.P. Ltd. Darlington Corporation has ordered six 27-ft.-long front-eng.ined CCG6 model chassis. The CCO6, which is the current model with Guy constant-mesh gearbox, is also specified by Burton-on-Trent Corporation, who has ordered three chassis.

OFF TO OILFIELDS: Amongst vehicles being shipped overseas by A.E.C. this week are 12 Militant six-wheel oilfield lorries bound for Tripolitania.

SCOTTISH COIL CARRIERS: Delivery has been made by the Northern Trailer Co., Bishopbriggs, Glasgow, of the first of six semi-trailers designed to take coils of strip steel from Colvilles cold-rolling mill at Gartcosh, Lanarkshire, to car manufacturers in Scotland and the Midlands. The other five vehicles will shortly be delivered to H. Clelland and Co., haulage contractor, Chryston, Lanarkshire.

CLYDESDALES FOR YORKS OPERATOR: Four Albion Clydesdale tractive units have been ordered by the Yorkshire contractor Ackworth Transport Co. Ltd.

DANGEROUS CARGO: Albion Motors has received an order for nine Chieftain 7-ton chassis from the Nobel Division of LCL Ltd., which will be fitted with special tan-type bodies by A. C. Penman Ltd., Dumfries, for the carriage of explosives.

ON THEIR WAY: Colombia is the destination of four Leyland Comet 12-ton-gross tipper chassis with Telehoist tipping gear which left Leyland Motors this week. They have been ordered by Taylor Woodrow (Overseas) Ltd., for work on the Miraflores Dam project.

THREE FOR SHEPPARD: J. J. Sheppard Ltd., of Oughtibridge, near Sheffield, has ordered three Albion Super Reiver longwheelbase chassis. They will be fitted with platform bodies for general and steel haulage IN BRIEF Berliet to Expand Operations : Berliet, which last year recorded a record production of 13,700 units, is to expand production over 1963 to an annual level of 16,000 vehicles. The company is rumoured to be planning a co-operation venture with RheinstahlHanomag, of Hanover.

Plastics Exhibition: " Interplas 63" is to take place at Olympia, London, from June 12-22, at the close of the Plastics Centenary Year. It will be the largest exhibition of plastics materials, machinery and finished products ever staged in Britain. More than 400 firms from 13 countries will be taking part in the exhibition.
