Contract-to-A Bid Succeeds A SMELTING and refinery company,

Capper Pass and Sons Ltd., which is shortly to close down its Bristol premises and move to Hull, would require the removal of hundreds of tons of material, the Western Licensing Authority was told in Bristol on Monday, when a Bristol haulier, H. and F. W. Wookey, was successful in a five-vehicle contract A to A licence bid.

Mr. T. D. Corpe, for the applicant, said that the application arose because Capper Pass was moving to Hull, and it was essential that his client should be able to carry return loads to make the proposition an economical one.

Manager of the transport section of Capper Pass Ltd., Mr. Middleweek, said the removal of the material from Bristol to Hull would take at least five years.

The Licensing Authority, Mr. S. W. Nelson, said the evidence was clear. He granted the application subject to the surrender of the contract A licences for five vehicles.
