British Road Services and Scotfreight Ltd. in the same court earlier in the year, Motor Services (Coventry) Ltd. successfully applied in Glasgow on Tuesday for an A licence for six artics to carry Rootes cars in Great Britain.

Mr. F. Barnes, general manager of the applicant company, said that the company had 17 car transporters operating in the West Midlands area. After pressure by Mr, D. Brown, for British Railways who objected, he gave an undertaking that the six transporters asked for would not seek return traffic from the Ford Motor Co. Ltd. at Dagenham.

The Scottish Licensing Authority, Mr. W. F.Quin, asked Mr. P. Morris, Rootes car dispatch manager, how much of the cars would go in case form, and was advised that perhaps 20 per cent of the export cars would be in such form. The Authority said that there were many small hauliers in Scotland that were fully capable of handling such traffic. These companies might get some of the " crumbs falling from the rich man's table ' and he suggested that Rootes might consider employing such companies.
